In the digital age, digitizing fiction and scientific literature is very important. It increases access to texts and ensures these invaluable works' restoration and maintenance.

That is why the University of Georgia's project — the Digital Laboratory of the Georgian Language — aims to digitize all important Georgian-language publications and create an online repository based on the university library's electronic foundation.

It should be noted that from 1629 to the present day, approximately 250,000 printed units have been published in Georgian. According to the project, the focus is initially on scientific periodicals and monographs, some of which were never digitized, while others had poor-quality scans. However, as the project team members informed us, they were re-examined under strict digitization standards. The search function was added: "We are guided by the standard of digitized by us, which involves the creation of clear, flawless and searchable documents from old, yellowed, damaged books, which are of volume, and It is an optimal option in terms of quality."

In the digital library, books are classified into two categories: copyrighted books and books to which copyright does not apply. That is why open access to books protected by copyright is limited and available exclusively to authorized users of the University of Georgia library. Those books that are not copyrighted will be accessed by everyone. It should be noted that it is not possible to download books from any fund, and those who wish will be able to use them only on the library's page.

Finally, the project team is open to cooperation with booksellers and libraries that express their willingness to promote the enrichment of the digital library with the books they own. This cooperation, of course, ensures the project's original purpose—to preserve books and share Georgia's cultural and literary heritage with the masses.
